Pressure Sensing for Angioplasty
Surgical procedures, such as angioplasty are used to clear a blockage in an artery near the heart, a process where surgeons guide a catheter along a guide wire, up through your artery in your leg, guide it through your abdominal area, through your chest , ending up at the heart. An impressive journey to get through your body to a specific branch of one of your arteries. Fig. 1 - below (when loged in), shows a magnified section of a blockage and the route through the body of the catheter. This is a complex process to remove a build up of material within the artery that’s limiting blood flow.
