After growing up on the Isle of Wight, Nick studied at the University of Bath and graduated with a Master’s degree in chemistry in 2006. He then began his career working as an analytical scientist in a water testing laboratory, ensuring that potable and environmental waters met the relevant quality standards such as limits on pesticide content. He was also part of the out-of-hours incident response service, supporting water companies with rapid testing of samples from suspected trespass or pollution incidents to ensure the safety of the water supply. In this position he learned a range of spectroscopy techniques as well as method development, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
After a few years Nick moved to a specialist freeze-drying consultancy company which provided services to multinational pharmaceutical companies as well as new start-ups and research teams. Over time he gradually progressed from an analytical and process development scientist role to managing the lab’s productivity, and then into the customer-facing side of the business. Here Nick developed skills in project scoping, pricing and design, and was responsible for technical sales to customers worldwide.
Nick joined Fibercore in December 2017 as an account manager, and is responsible for our sales in Europe. His hobbies include travelling, cooking and reading.
