Nonlinear Index

With Nonlinear Index (n2) the intensity of light can modify the propagation in a fiber and the output from it. The non-linear index n2 is a change in the refractive index which is dependant upon the intensity of light in the fiber. The Kerr effect describes the intensity dependence of index in the glass, where n2 is the Kerr coefficient or nonlinear refractive index, which is related to a variety of nonlinear effects exhibited in fiber.
