IsoGain™

SPECTRAL CONSISTENCY
the key to EDFA manufacturability through consistent performance and high gain flattening filter yield

In the volume production of any device, the in-lot and lot-to-lot consistency of major components is of paramount importance.

In-lot Gain Spectrum Variation of 0.05 dB Achieved

The fundamental manufacturing process of IsoGain has been designed to generate an inherently consistent core composition - ensuring that your EDFAs deliver the same, flat spectral response and that one design of GFF 'fits all'

Absorption and Emission Curves

These graphs1 show absorption and emission spectra measured at eight points along a full production batch of IsoGain™. As you can see, the curves are congruent - in fact, the maximum variation is less than 0.05 dB.

Pump Absorption Variation Within +/- 0.25 dB Lot-to-Lot

To simplify your EDFA production still further, Fibercore Limited can deliver your fiber within a lot-to-lot pump absorption variation of +/- 0.25 dB - minimising changes in optimum gain section length.

Note:
1. Absorption and emission spectra have been normalised to 5.5 dB/m and 5.0 dB/m, respectively to emphasise the congruence of the spectral shape.
2. The maximum variation in pump absorption allowed within the standard specification of IsoGain™ is +/- 0.5 dB - tighter specifications are achieved by selection.
