Quantum Conversion Efficiency

Quantum conversion efficiency is defined as the ratio of pump photon energy to the signal photon energy. This quantity is usually used to describe amplifier or laser system where it indicates the conversion efficiency of pump photons into signal photons. As the energy in the photons at pump and signal wavelengths are not the same (input pump photons tend to be shorter wavelength, and so higher energy, than output signal photons), the quantum conversion efficiency will be different to the power conversion efficiency.
