Job description: Principal Development Engineer

Deliverables/responsibilities

Enhance Fibercore’s technical depth and breadth significantly, thereby enabling the Company to complete development programmes more quickly and effectively

Provide close mentoring / management, as appropriate, to assist more junior colleague(s) to develop to their full potential.

Provide active and effective management of collaborative programmes with the University of Southampton ORC and other leading academic institutions, as well as internal, technical projects.

Profile

Experience & Technical skills
• Strong experience in Photonics (essential)
• Strong & passionate across a broad range of technical disciplines, with the ability to visualize and understand process interactions at a fundamental level (essential)
• Skilled in experimental design and build, with a good appreciation of process and chemistry (essential)
• High-level software skills for modelling and simulation – ability to program advantageous (advantageous)
• Proven project management experience (essential)

Soft Skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Excellent hands-on skills with a high-level practical approach
• Able to delegate effectively
• A resourceful self-starter
• High energy, willingness to work in a fast-paced environment

Education
A post-graduate degree in Engineering or Physics from a leading University would be desirable but not essential
