Our unmatched depth of specialty fiber expertise is the direct result of the singular purpose that Fibercore has followed since its beginnings in 1982 as a spin-out from the World-renowned Optical Fiber Group at the University of Southampton, UK.  Originally named York Ventures and Specialty Optical Products, the Company's mission was to commercialize the pioneering specialty fiber innovations developed by the University - low birefringence fibers in 1982, polarization maintaining in 1983, neodymium in 1987, erbium in 1988 ...  At all times, the core of the business has been specialty fiber - not any one market, application or geographic region.  This key strategy of diversity has been instrumental in the Company's success - enabling Fibercore to prosper, and even grow, during the years after 2001 that proved so difficult to companies relying solely on the Telecommunications Industry.
