Simply by providing a reliable, demountable connection, polarisation maintaining connectors make PM fiber much easier to use in a wide range of applications including IO devices, instrumentation, antenna remoting and sensor probes.

Diamond^® Fibercore PM connectors are keyed, to ensure alignment of the polarisation axes across a connector pair. They also incorporate a unique, stress-relieved ferrule together with active core alignment to deliver the highest levels of performance available – low insertion loss, low return loss and high extinction.

Diamond^® Fibercore connectors may also be specified, without polarisation keying, for any of the fibers in the Fibercore Limited range.

To order pigtails or patch cords (jumpers), please use part numbers in this format:

Where:
(1) Connector Type (End 1) – FC, DIN, SC, E2000
(2) Polish – PC (-50 dB Return Loss), APC (-70 dB Return Loss)
(3) Fiber Type (HB, SM, DF etc.)
(4) Operating Wavelength – Specify in the range 488 nm to 1600 nm
(5) Fiber Length in Metres
(6) Jacket – ‘900’ (900 micron loose-tube), LT3 (3 mm aramid-yarn reinforced)
(7) Connector Type (End 2) – FC, DIN, SC, E2000

For example ‘E2000 – APC – HB – 633 – 10 – LT3 – DIN’ would be a 633 nm HiBi patch cord, 10 metres in length, jacketed with a 3 mm ID, aramid-yarn reinforced sheath and terminated with an E2000 connector at one end and a DIN connector at the other. Both connectors would be 8° APC polished to give -70 dB return loss. If you just need a pigtail, simply omit the second connector (7).
